EVENT SCHEDULE/EVENT INFORMATION
Visitors Arrivals - On arrival Visitors should go directly to the Carlisle Pier (pier between RSGYC and NYC) to unload boats on the launching trolleys before bringing their boat to the designated club forecourt.
- All Laser Radial, 29er, Feva + Optimist Championship fleets to in RSGYC forecourt
- All 420; Laser 4.7 + Topper and Optimist Trials fleets to NYC forecourt.
Teams arriving to train before the event should note that, although the clubs will be open, there will be limited facilities available in the yacht clubs over the Easter holiday weekend. The contact numbers in the clubs over the weekend are RSGYC Boathouse: +353867345413 and NYC Boathouse: +353 12841483.
Camper Van Early Arrivals Over the Easter Weekend
- Camper vans will be parked in a designated area on the Carlisle Pier which is a pier in between RSGYC and NYC. You are asked to please make contact with Tino Hyland who will assist you on arrival. Tino’s mobile number is +353 86 250 3267.
- Parking Permits for Camper Vans: Daily parking permits will be €8 and will be available from the Managers Office in the National Yacht Club for early arrivals.
- Waste Disposal : A chemical waste disposal tank will be situated on the Carlisle Pier.
Visiting Ribs
- All visiting ribs should be launched from the Coal Harbour slip located at the West End of the Harbour (map will be put on website early next week) and trailers to be stored on the allocated area on the Carlisle Pier. The ribs may be berthed at the RSGYC or NYC during the event. All rib owners must register at Race Office in RSGYC where they will be required to pay a refundable deposit of €20 for a support rib flag which must be flown during the event.
- If you are bringing a support rib to the event , Rib Registration forms maybe obtained in the Racing section of the Event Website or at the Race Office.
Support Boats – Laser Radial & 420 Fleet (only)
- Note provision 23.3 in Sailing Instructions, that except when requested by or agreed with the race committee, coaches and supporters shall not communicate with competitors afloat, tow competitors to or from the race area, or enter the race area.
Parking Permits - Daily Parking permits will be available from the Race Office @ €8 per day. If you are an early arrival daily permits will be available from the Managers Office of the NYC.
Lock Up for Valuables- Sailors are requested not to leave any valuables in the changing rooms of the RSGYC and NYC and a ‘Valuables Lock Up Facility’ will be available in the RSGYC and NYC. This will be open 1 hour prior to launching and 1 hour post launching.
Registration - RSGYC All sailors must register with a parent/guardian at the Race Office which will be open as follows:
- Wednesday 11th April from 1700 – 2000 (420, Laser Radial, 29er)
- Thursday 12th April from 0830-1000 (420,Laser Radial, 29er)
- Thursday 12th April from 1700 – 2000 (Laser 4.7,Feva, Topper, Optimist Championship)
- Friday 13th April from 0830-1000 (Laser 4.7, Feva, Topper, Optimist Championship)
- All rib owners must register at Race Office in RSGYC in order to receive their support boat flag.
Optimist Trials Registration - NYC
- The registration and measurement for the Optimist Trials Fleet will be arranged by IODAI and take place in the National Yacht Club on Thursday 12th April from 3pm to 9pm.
Sailors Briefings
- All sailors MUST be changed and boats rigged and ready to launch prior to the Competitors Briefings.
- Thursday 12th - 420, Laser Radial, 29er fleets in NYC at 1030
- Friday 13th – Laser 4.7, Feva, Topper, Optimist Championship in RSGYC at 0930
Support Boat Briefings
- A separate briefing for support boats will follow the sailors briefings on Thursday and Friday.
Sponsor Advertising
- Hull stickers – All competitors will be supplied with Mitsubishi Motors stickers at registration which shall be affixed to both sides of the bow as instructed.
Sailors Apres Sail
- Entry includes après sail - a simple pasta dish + drink for sailors after racing each day for all sailors
- This will take place in one club each day - Thursday RSGYC, Friday & Saturday NYC, Sunday RSGYC
- Debrief and Race Analysis after racing – Thursday RSGYC, Friday & Saturday NYC,
- Prizegiving on Sunday - RSGYC
Sailor’s ID
- Sailors will be issued with a permanent wristband which will be applied at Registration. They are required to wear this for the event as they will need to present this on the slip before launching and will be required to show this for their Apres Sail food.
De-Brief and Race Analysis
- Champion sailor and top coach Prof O’Connell will be on the water on the Yellow and Red Areas during the regatta videoing the racing and analysing the conditions. His 30 min talk will be a must for sailors on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday after racing. This will take place once sailors had packed away boats and had their food. The starting time will announced when sailors come ashore each day. Parents are also welcome.
Youth Worlds 2012 – How to Qualify for Irish Team?
- James O’Callaghan and Prof O’Connell will introduce the 2012 Youth Worlds and hold a brief Q & A session for sailors/parents on how to train and qualify to represent Ireland at this or other international events in 2012. This will take place immediately after the De-brief and Race Analysis.
Parents
- All parents are very welcome to relax in the clubs during the event and are encouraged to use the bars and catering facilities whether it is for coffee or a drink, for lunch or food after sailing.
Details of social activities during the championship will be available from the race office.
